Research projects often involve the collecting of large amounts data from sensors, and the collation of this data from varied datasets. Small formatting errors and occasional inconsistencies can make this data very difficult to efficiently analyse.
Our website provides users with a tool that can read a comma-separated value data files and excel spreadsheets to present a high level digest of the data to a researcher, identifying errors and inconsistencies, and highlighting anomalies for the user.
Users are also able to change the report which is generated by changing the way the file is read. These settings can be saved as a file on their PC to apply the same settings on files of the same structure.
This program only stores your data for as long as the analysis is run, after which the data is immediately deleted. For those concerned about privacy or for user's with very large files the program is available to be downloaded and can be run using python.
This project was developed by the UWA students: Liam Jones, Alastair Chin, Jordan Hedges, Kieran Richards, Leighton Lilford, Jan Villanueva and Alastair Mory for a Computer Science design project under the supervision of Dr Tim French and the UWA System Health Lab. The prototype tool was then tested by participants in the 2016 Unearthed Hackathon. Feedback from this experience and from A/P Adrian Keating at UWA led to the launch of the current version.
